Do I need a prescription to see a physiotherapist?

No, you can consult a physiotherapist directly without a prescription. However, to benefit from health insurance (LAMal) or accident insurance (LAA) reimbursement, a medical prescription is required.

    Are physiotherapy sessions reimbursed?

Yes, with a medical prescription, sessions are covered by basic LAMal insurance (after deductible and co-pay) or 100% by LAA accident insurance. Without a prescription, fees are at your expense.

How long does a physiotherapy session last?

There is no fixed duration: it depends on your clinical situation and the session format chosen by your physiotherapist. The first consultation is usually longer, to complete a full assessment and set up a personalised treatment plan.

What conditions do you treat in physiotherapy?

We treat sports injuries, chronic pain, musculoskeletal conditions, post-operative rehabilitation, back pain, tendinitis, sprains, and any disorder of the locomotor system.

How do I book a physiotherapy appointment?

You can book directly online via our OneDoc widget on this page, or contact us by phone at +41 76 843 45 54. We offer appointments Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 7:30pm, and on Saturday from 8am to 9am and 11am to 12:30pm.

Where is your physiotherapy practice located?

Our practice is located in Gland, in the heart of the Vaud Coast, between Lausanne and Geneva. We are ideally located and easily accessible by car or public transport. Address: Route des Avouillons 17c, 1196 Gland (Box 26-27).

What's the difference between classical and sports physiotherapy?

Sports physiotherapy focuses on sport-related injuries and athletic performance, with specific techniques for a quick return to activity. Classical physiotherapy treats a broader spectrum of everyday conditions. At Off-Field, our therapists master both approaches.

    Do you handle physiotherapy emergencies?

We try to offer quick appointments for urgent cases like acute sports injuries, back blocks, or post-operative pain. Contact us by phone for priority care within 24-48 hours.

Do you offer sessions outside office hours?

Yes: from 7:30am to 7:30pm Monday to Friday, and on Saturday morning from 8am to 9am and 11am to 12:30pm, to fit around the work schedules of our patients and athletes.

Should I bring anything to the first session?

Bring your medical prescription if you have one, your health insurance card, and comfortable clothing that allows access to the area to be treated. If you have recent examinations (MRI, X-rays), bring them too.

How many sessions does a physiotherapy prescription cover?

A prescription covers up to 9 sessions, and the first session must take place within 5 weeks of the prescription. If treatment needs to continue, your doctor writes a new prescription; beyond 36 sessions, they send a report to your insurer's medical adviser, who decides on further cover.

Physio or osteopath: what is the difference for reimbursement?

With a medical prescription, physiotherapy is covered by basic health insurance (LAMal) or accident insurance (LAA). Osteopathy is not covered by basic insurance: only some supplementary insurances contribute. In physiotherapy, treatment combines manual therapy and active exercise, through to your return to activity.

Physio or physiotherapist: is it the same thing?

Yes: physio is the everyday word for physiotherapist (in France, the same profession is called kinésithérapeute). In Gland, our sports physios see you with a prescription (covered by LAMal or LAA) or without one (at your own cost, or depending on your supplementary insurance).

    Can sessions be in English?

Yes. The whole Off-Field team speaks French and English: assessment, explanations and exercises in the language you prefer.
